Dinner
at Willsboro Bay:
And a
Near Mutiny

By day 4, our excitement of cooking hotdogs on the grill had been overcome by a desire for a full meal. So, with visions of full service menus dancing in our heads, we sailed north from Converse Bay - where the trip leaders said we would have a grand dinner at a fabulous restaurant at Willsboro Bay.
Kathie and I were
giddy with excitement! What would we have that night? Steak? Seafood? Pasta?
The choices were endless, as were our anticipation and appetite.
Our teenage son, accustom to a hearty appetite, was showing signs
of increased morale. The dinner was coming just in time to save this Captain
from a mutiny.
But instead, the Captain was almost keelhauled when we arrived to find that the restaurant was closed that night!
But the day was saved when a couple of intrepid flotilla members noted that they had launched at a nearby ramp, and would be happy to transport the entire flotilla by shuttle-car to a restaurant in town. I was saved from keelhauling, the crew was happy, and visions of waiters with trays reappeared in my head.
That dinner was wonderful! Everyone was in a jovial mood. We knew we were in for a great evening when the waitress dropped a bowl of salad on The Beep's back, and then offered to go back to the kitchen to get the dressing!
