Deep Bay

Day
5. Deep Bay, so-called because it is long and narrow, features a tiny
beach. That evening, the group decided to socialize
on
the beach,
over a bon-fire made of drift wood, ably crafted under the skillful supervision The
Beep.
Beep's skipper assumed a commanding role, exemplifying the best of nautical leadership in the pursuit of driftwood for the fire. Children and adults of all ages were seen scurrying about looking for their personal contribution to the ever growing stack of wood.
Zusammen, Time Enough and Three Breazy Fleas provided live musical entertainment while the group mingled and children roasted marshmallows. Lady in Red's youngest mate provided valuable ferry service to By and By and others.
Adults and children demonstrated an impressive display of rock skipping. Kathie showed By & By's youngest crew member how to improve his skipability. He immediately scored an impressive 15 skip throw! Both student and teacher were very pleased!
Everyone was friendly... exchanging stories, and catching up with all that's happened since the last year's Champlain adventure. By the time the party ended, it was pitch black and flashlights were needed to find our boats.
(That evening, Time Enough provided us with the inside scoup on sailing in Lake George. Their take on the lake turned out to be spot on - busy busy busy! We'll be writing a trip report on Lake George soon.)
A splended time was had by all.
