MOANE Minutes of April 15, 2000

Meeting Location: Nashua Country Club, Nashua, NH

Attendees: 18 members with 10 boats represented plus one very special guest speaker.

The general meeting was called to order at 11:30am by the Commodore, Bruce Foshay.

Opening remarks by Bruce included a thank you to Eric Macklin of the Hunter Corp for his participation as a guest speaker at the "Strictly Sail" show last month in Hartford.

Additional opening remarks included Barbara’s opportunity for us to submit articles on trailer sailing to a new publication called "Small Craft Advisory". Their web site is www.smallcraftadvisor.com. Speak with Barbara for more information.

Treasurer’s report: Barbara Garland reported that we have $702 in our account after adjusting for several expense items. A motion was made, seconded and we voted to accept the report as posted.

Secretary’s report: Hal Streeter offered hard copies of the previous meeting and reminded all attendees of the minutes, which were posted on our web site. A motion was made, seconded and we voted to accept the report as published.

Commodore’s thoughts for the fall ‘00 season. Bruce is soliciting articles on, "What makes us stay together as a club of trailerable boating enthusiasts". He is seeking ideas for the next season. This could possibly be a seminar topic for next seasons Boston and Hartford boat shows.

All but two vessels will pass within 200 feet of this point. Two cannot fit under the bridges and will proceed around the cape. After a stay in Boston they will race to Amsterdam.

Guest Speaker, Richard Jones. Topic: Lighthouses of Narragansett Bay, RI.

Dick did a masterful job at narrating a detailed slide show. Not only did he discuss the lighthouses but also demonstrated great insight into their history, climactic events, architecture and operations. He also interjected with whimsical stories surrounding some of the rigors of lighthouse life.

Meeting adjourned at 3:30.

Respectfully submitted,

Hal Streeter, MOANE Secretary
