MINUTES

MOANE ANNUAL MEETING, JANUARY 16, 1999

The meeting was called to order at 11:30 am by commodore Bruce Foshay with 16 members representing 9 boats present.
The Minutes of the November, 1998 meeting were approved.
The treasurer’s report was accepted.
Action was taken on motions presented by the Board as follows:
  • Motion #1 (replacement of the Jibsheet with a web page) passed 9 - 0.
  • Motion #2 (electronic communication to be the major means of club communication) passed 9 - 0.
  • Motion #3 (reduction in dues) failed 9 - 0. Dues for 1999 will be $10.
  • Flag Nominations were passed unanimously.

  • Hal Streeter and Kevin Sherman were nominated to the "member at large" positions and elected unanimously.
    Speakers for future meetings were discussed, with Doug Pope proposed for the February meeting, and Dick Jones for the March Meeting.

    Rendezvous’ for 1999 were discussed, with the following proposals offered:

  • Sarasota, Florida. A group is gathering there in March.
  • Winnipesaukee, May 22 & 23.
  • Boston Harbor in August.
  • Champlain in July (3rd - 11th ).
  • Hudson River.
  • Narragansett Bay in June.
  • Casco Bay.
  • Penobscot Bay.
  • Mystic Seaport.
  • Rendezvous "etiquette," courtesy, and responsibility were discussed in general. It was noted that those attending rendezvous’ are far more experienced than in the early years of the organization, and that this has led to increased independence. The importance of notifying the leader of your plans, expectations, and any assistance required was stressed. It was also stressed that each boat and crew is ultimately responsible for its own decisions and actions.

    The meeting adjourned at 2:30.
