MOANE MEETING, FEBRUARY 20, 1999

The Meeting was called to order at 11:30 am by Commodore Bruce Foshay with 14 members present representing 10 boats.

No Secretary’s report was presented due to the failure of the Secretary to bring copies.

With Treasurer reports a balance of $874 in the organization account.

Doug Pope, a member from Rockland Maine and the owner of Pope Sails presented information on how to select a sail maker, general information on the industry, current design, the care of sails, and answered many questions from the membership concerning sails. It was noted that Doug has done work for several members and all have been pleased. Doug now has a web site: popesail@mint.net.

Rendezvous plans for 1999 were reviewed.

Discussion concerning a MacGregor "Worlds" rendezvous with a racing to be organized by Doug Pope (who volunteered) was suggested, discussed, and warmly received. No decisions were made, but there was a question as to whether this might be held at Naples Marina, in Naples Maine in place of the Labor Day Sebago rendezvous.

The membership was pleased with the development of the web site. It was emphasized that the membership needs to provide support Roger by supplying material. There was discussion of the access, and member information being available. It was decided that scheduled events should be in the "open" section, and personal information (addresses and phone numbers) on the membership roster would be included only with the individual member’s permission.

The next meeting will be held on March 27th and the Nashua Country Club with Dick Jones speaking on the Lighthouses of Penobscot Bay.

The Meeting concluded at 2:45 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Bob Chase
Secretary
