North East Trailer Sailors

Hi Everyone,
We had a great day sailing/ motor sailing with Chuck Healy and family on Sunday May 20, 2012.
Al and I were not able to attend the Winnipesaukee rendezvous for the entire weekend due to our youngest grandsons Blue and Gold Cub Scout camp/ dinner/awards so when we were invited to go sailing for the day with Chuck and family we agreed immediately.
The day started early as we packed food and knitting to go on the road by 7:30 AM. We arrived in Gilford, NH at Chucks 33.5 foot Hunter Sailboat named Nirvana about 9:30 AM. After storing gear and quick hellos with Helen, first mate and daughter Brianna and her boyfriend we were under way down a narrow canal. Suddenly there was a LOUD blast of an air horn, and then Chuck explained because the canal is only wide enough for one boat you have to signal before you enter to warn others.
Not much wind so we motor sailed to Weirs Beach where we ate lunch on board and the guys and kids walked down to the boardwalk for ice cream, Al brought me back a dish of chocolate ice cream.
We enjoyed a quiet sail back to the marina going about 4 knots or so.
It was a great day to be on the water with friends on a beautiful boat.
